Veterinary Practice Manager
Build Structure, Drive Accountability, and Help a High-Care Veterinary Practice Grow
Are you the person who sees where things break… and can’t ignore it?
Do you notice when:
- messages are seen but not owned
- tasks move between people but don’t quite land
- standards exist… but aren’t consistently held
And more importantly:
Do you feel compelled to fix it properly, not just patch it?
If that’s you, keep reading.
About the Role
This is not a traditional practice manager position.
This is a role for someone who can take a strong, values-driven veterinary practice and build the system that allows it to run consistently without depending on the owner to hold everything together.
At Family Pet Hospital, the demand is there. The care is real. The team is good.
What’s missing is structure.
Your role is to change that.
The three outcomes that matter most in this role:
- The practice runs smoothly without constant intervention
Clear ownership. Fewer things falling through the cracks. Less reliance on the owner to step in. - Systems replace inconsistency
Workflows are clear. Communication lands. Follow-through becomes reliable. - Accountability becomes normal
Standards are understood and upheld. Performance issues are addressed. Expectations are real.
If you can deliver those three things, everything else improves.
About Us
Family Pet Hospital was built differently on purpose.
This was never meant to be a high-volume, transactional clinic.
It was designed to be a place where:
- pets are treated like family
- care is individualized
- the experience is low-stress for both the animal and the owner
That shows up in how our clients talk about us. There is trust. There is loyalty. People feel looked after, not processed.
We are also a Fear Free practice. That isn’t a label. It’s a genuine shift in how we approach care, from handling to communication to decision-making.
Our team culture matters just as much as our medicine.
People here:
- support each other
- value flexibility and work-life balance
- care deeply about doing things properly
But we are at a point where what we’ve built has outgrown the structure underneath it.
That’s where you come in.
About You
You are not just a manager.
You are someone who:
- notices where systems break
- feels compelled to fix things that aren’t working properly
- prefers clarity over ambiguity
- is comfortable having difficult conversations when standards aren’t met
You don’t create drama.
You create order.
You are:
- structured in how you think
- calm but firm in how you lead
- consistent in how you show up
You care about people, but you don’t let that become an excuse for lowering standards.
And importantly:
You want a role where you can actually make things better, not just maintain what already exists.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the practice
- Identifying where communication and workflow break down
- Building and embedding systems that improve consistency
- Creating clear ownership of tasks and outcomes across the team
- Holding regular performance conversations and addressing issues early
- Supporting team development while reinforcing expectations
- Working directly with Dr. Molly Abernathy to translate vision into execution
Skills and Qualifications - Experience in veterinary practice management or a highly analogous leadership role
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage performance
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience implementing systems or improving operational consistency
Preferred:
- CVPM or equivalent experience
What’s in It for You
- Salary: $75,000–$85,000 depending on experience
- A full-time role with primarily on-site presence
- Flexibility for focused work outside the clinic when needed
- The opportunity to step into a role with real ownership and impact
- A practice with strong values, a good team, and genuine potential
This is not a role where you will be micromanaged.
You will be trusted to take ownership and build something that lasts.
A Quick Reality Check
This role is not for everyone.
If you prefer:
- avoiding difficult conversations
- waiting for direction
- keeping things comfortable rather than consistent
This will not be the right fit.
But if you’re someone who sees what this practice could become and wants to be the person who helps it get there…
We’d like to hear from you.
