Family Pet Hospital makes pets happy by keeping them healthy with state-of-the-art care and exceptional service. We provide compassionate preventive, therapeutic, and dental care to achieve optimal health and quality of life for dogs and cats from pediatric to end-of-life stages.
Molly Abernathy, DVM
Veterinarian and Owner
I founded Family Pet Hospital in 2015, but I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I can remember. Honestly, I don’t remember wanting to be anything else! I never found anything I enjoyed more, so I stuck with it. I love puzzles and biology, working with people and providing good customer service, and, of course, dogs and cats. Veterinary medicine brought all of those things together.
One of my favorite things about animals is that they’re always themselves. I love advocating for them and helping their families understand what’s going on. Helping a pet who’s hurting or uncomfortable feel better and enjoy life more is especially rewarding.
At home, I have four cats: Fern, who is blind; Forest, who is noisy and pretty active; Frank, who is very sweet and very pretty; and Florence, my newest addition. Florence was bottle-fed as a kitten, and she’s grown into a wonderful little terror of the household!
My faith is important to me, and I enjoy knitting, gardening, and reading. Most of all, I love spending time with my husband and our three daughters. They’re the lights of my life. One fun fact I’ll always remember is traveling to Ghana during vet school with a group of veterinary students to help at a zoo and a veterinary hospital.
What I love most about Family Pet Hospital is working with a team that cares about pets and people as much as I do.
Rebecca Cross DVM
Associate Veterinarian
I joined Family Pet Hospital in May 2019. Like Dr. Abernathy and Dr. Richardson, I’m from Texas. I grew up in Austin and graduated from Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. I began my career in general practice in Texas before moving to Colorado in 2002, where I spent more than ten years working in emergency medicine.
I’ve been happily married for over two decades, and we have two children. Our family also includes our dogs, Onyx and Biscuit, and Velcro, a formerly feral cat who seemed to do more of the adopting than we did!
A fun fact about me: I love singing karaoke.
My favorite parts of working at Family Pet Hospital are the patients we care for, our team, the family atmosphere, and the fun we have together.
Rani Reuter DVM
Associate Veterinarian
I joined Family Pet Hospital in May 2021, but I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian since I was five. I’ve always loved animals and their humans. I was born in California and raised in Wyoming, graduated from UC San Diego, and earned my veterinary degree from UC Davis in 1996. After completing my internship at Alameda East in Denver, I eventually made Colorado my home in 2016, when I moved from San Diego.
I love getting to know the relationship each family has with their pet and helping strengthen that bond with care that fits their priorities. Animals’ joy, innocence, and trust make me want to keep getting better at what I do. The comfort they bring to their people, and to those of us caring for them, is hard to match.
One of the things I enjoy about general practice is being there from puppyhood through the senior years. I also love the variety: internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and preventive medicine all get to be part of my day.
At home, I have a Lab mix named Mako, a cat named Iris, and two leopard geckos, Gary and Chuck. Outside of work, I’m an avid trail runner, and I enjoy skiing, traveling, and going to music events.
A fun fact about me: I was in the pilot season of Emergency Vets on Animal Planet!
What I love most about FPH is that we really feel like a family. Everyone works together, does their job well, and brings so much compassion, kindness, and respect to the team.
Sasha Richardson DVM
Associate Veterinarian
I officially joined Family Pet Hospital in August 2023 after working relief shifts with the team. I’m originally from Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2003. Becoming a veterinarian was a childhood dream I never outgrew.
I’ve always loved animals… I love the variety in veterinary medicine, from surgery and dentistry to medicine, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Getting to know each pet’s personality and the part they play in their family is one of my favorite things about this work. I love seeing that bond between pets and their people.
I’m a mom of four, and we also have six chickens and two cats. Tony is a confident, happy orange tabby, while Phil is a reserved, docile gentleman. Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, watching my kids’ activities, hiking, spending time outdoors, and playing the piano.
A fun fact: I married my high school prom date! We went as friends, and the romance followed pretty quickly.
I love that FPH is privately owned, with great leadership, an exceptional staff, and a real team atmosphere. We have fun at work, love what we do, and work well together. Everyone cares about our patients and is skilled in their role.
Cynthia
Practice Manager
I joined Family Pet Hospital as practice manager in July 2026 after making a career change into veterinary medicine. My love of animals goes back to childhood. My family raised Boer goats, and being involved in 4-H when I was young helped shape that love. I’ve always had a soft spot for dogs and cats, so FPH felt like a good fit as soon as I had the opportunity to join.
I love connecting with animals and the people who love them. Helping create a place where pets feel safe and their owners feel cared for is something I’m proud of.
At home, I have a Bernedoodle named Sunny Flower, our resident cuddle bug and comic relief; a Standard Poodle named Remy, who’s just as goofy; and Hopper, a bearded dragon who’s so fun to watch.
My husband and I are always looking for our next outdoor adventure, whether it’s a spontaneous drive or time by the water. Being close to a river with a beautiful view is one of my favorite things about living in Colorado.
A fun fact about me: I’m a lifelong Disney fan, and I love to cook!
My favorite things about FPH are the culture, the amazing team, and the care we provide. Our doctors provide excellent care, and I’m proud to be part of a team that feels like family.

Lead Nurse and Registered Veterinary Technician
I joined Family Pet Hospital in July 2025. I chose veterinary medicine because I wanted to help animals and their owners, and I love getting to do both.
At home, I have three animals: Sadie, my 13-year-old Dachshund; Boo, my 12-year-old Chiweenie; and Chickpea, my four-year-old kitty. Outside of work, I love being outdoors, whether I’m hiking, running, biking, or enjoying time on the water.
What I love about FPH is how much we all care about the people and pets who come through our doors. I appreciate our doctors and staff and the work we do to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress.

I joined Family Pet Hospital in August 2018. Animals have always been my first love. I’ve been rescuing stray dogs in my neighborhood since I was a teenager, so choosing veterinary medicine was a no-brainer.
I love everything about working with animals, especially watching them grow from puppies into adults and building relationships with their owners along the way. At home, I have one dog, Ray, a two-year-old black Lab. Outside of work, I enjoy gardening and reading.
I love FPH and feel honored to be part of this hospital. It’s been wonderful to watch how much we’ve grown over the last eight years. My coworkers and our veterinarians are the best!

Registered Veterinary Technician
I joined Family Pet Hospital in April 2019, shortly after graduating from CSU with my bachelor’s degree in Zoology. Go Rams! I was born in Louisiana, but Colorado has been home since I was just one year old.
My family includes my partner, Zach; our two kitties, Parmesan and Crockpot; and our angel dog, Zoey. In my free time, I enjoy trying new food and traveling.
What I love most about FPH is the culture and my fellow vet med ladies.

Registered Veterinary Technician
I joined Family Pet Hospital in October 2023, and I’ve been working in veterinary medicine since 2010. I’ve always loved animals and helping people. I love meeting all the different kinds, colors, types, and personalities that come through the door, and those older gray faces have a special place in my heart.
At home, I have three Shiba Inus named Fugu, Imoto, and Red, a cat named Magpie, and a horse named Chevy. Outside of work, I enjoy horseback riding and exploring with the puppies.

Registered Veterinary Technician
I joined Family Pet Hospital in July 2026 after making a career change later in life. Before veterinary medicine, I spent years working as an EMT, firefighter, and phlebotomist. At home, I have Harlow, a Belgian Malinois, and three cats. Outside of work, I’m happiest tending to my plants, traveling, and reading.
A fun fact about me: I also have four kids who are almost grown!
What I love most about FPH is the connection with the people here. Everyone really is team-minded, and coming to work feels like a breath of fresh air.

Registered Veterinary Technician
I joined Family Pet Hospital in April 2024. I’m a Colorado native, and I’ve been drawn to animals since I was little. I grew up helping nurse neighborhood pets back to health and bringing home strays, something I’m still guilty of! I earned my associate’s degree in Animal Science in 2019, which got my career in veterinary medicine started. I enjoy making a positive difference for my patients and their owners. In my free time, you can find me in the mountains UTVing with my husband and dogs.
One of my favorite things about FPH is how close we are as coworkers. I also love the continuity of care: getting to watch puppies and kittens grow up and caring for them throughout their lives.

Veterinary Assistant
I joined Family Pet Hospital in July 2026. I’m originally from Orlando, Florida, and moved to Colorado in 2016. I earned my Biology degree from CU Denver in 2021.
Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I convinced my parents to adopt pets and pet-sat for neighbors. Since then, I’ve worked in kennels and animal sanctuaries and volunteered with wildlife rehabilitation centers. Finding my way into veterinary medicine felt natural.
I love connecting with animals and getting to know their individual personalities. I feel comfortable and safe around them, like I can be completely myself without any judgment.
At home, I have my corgi “son,” Dale Beans; two cats named Kitty and Goku; and a brave little leopard gecko named Buca di Gecko. On my days off, I’m usually exploring nature or at home crafting, writing, or reading with a cat in my lap.
What I love most about FPH is the culture, the people, and the service we provide to pet owners. Those are all things I deeply admire about this team.

Veterinary Assistant
I joined Family Pet Hospital in August 2026. I’m originally from Texas and try to get back home as often as I can. I’ve had a soft spot for end-of-life care ever since I said goodbye to my first cat when I was 11.
I’m currently enrolled in Penn Foster’s veterinary technician program, and I’m eager to learn whenever I get the chance. At home, I have three cats, Shiro, Chihiro, and Yuta, and a spoiled dog named Winry.
I spend most of my days off with my husband and our pets. When I’m out and about, you’ll probably find me at a live music show, hiking, or spending time at my parents’ ranch here in Colorado.
I’m glad I joined FPH, and I’m excited to be part of this team.

I first joined Family Pet Hospital in 2023 and returned in August 2026 after a short time away. My love for veterinary medicine started while growing up in the deep south surrounded by animals. As a kid, I helped rehabilitate racing greyhounds, adopted every stray, and had farm animals. From ages 10 to 14, I also volunteered at my small-town veterinary clinic and humane society.
To me, animals are love in its purest form. There’s no better feeling than helping a fearful kiddo get comfortable with a little extra care and attention, then having them show you their appreciation with all the love in their bodies.
At home, I have three amazing, stinky pets. Lucy is my firstborn, a Mini Schnauzer mix who came to me abused and broken and taught me patience and true love. She’s my soulmate. Ouija is my sweet tuxedo boy who never lets you forget when the Churu is late. Grim is my black cat, the baby of the family, and the worst animal you’ll ever meet!
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and best friend, my animals, reading, and watching reality TV.
A fun fact about me: I’m double-jointed and used to be a ballerina.
What I love most about FPH is the culture. You walk in and immediately feel like part of a family, as though you’ve all been friends forever.

Technician Assistant
I joined Family Pet Hospital in August 2023. I’m originally from California and like to bring a little sunshine with me! Before moving into veterinary medicine, I spent years working as a dog walker. I care a lot about both communicating with clients and looking after our patients.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy reading, drawing, and spending time with my husband and our terrier mix, Mr. Higgins.
A fun fact about me: I like to dance for the animals in the back, and they adore it!
What I love most about FPH is getting to know the owners and their pets and seeing the incredible bonds they’ve built together.

Technician Assistant
I joined Family Pet Hospital in November 2022, and have been in the veterinary field for nearly eight years. Both of my parents were vet techs, so I grew up with animals and have always had them in my life. Honestly, I’m not sure I could do anything else.
After being laid off during COVID, I decided I needed a change of pace. I started pet sitting and dog walking and eventually realized I enjoyed it enough to make it my career. Animals have always felt easier for me to understand than people, and I love that every day brings a different experience.
My household is pretty full. I have three senior cats, Mischa, Ozzie, and Little Bear, along with Ludi the Sheltie and Pancake the Aussie. Pancake is only two, so she keeps everybody feeling young and fit!
A fun fact about me: I have paperwork tracing my family line all the way back to the Mayflower.
I love working at FPH because every day brings a new challenge, and I love the people I work with. They’re some of the most caring and competent people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working alongside.

I joined Family Pet Hospital in March 2023. I’m a Kentucky native and moved to Colorado in 2018 with my two furry friends, Paxton and Paisley.
I fell in love with animals while volunteering in shelters when I was young. Since then, I’ve made working with animals my career, starting in kennels before moving into the veterinary field.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time at home with my fiancé and our four animals.

I joined Family Pet Hospital in October 2020. I’m originally from the Midwest, but Colorado has been home for the past eighteen years. I have degrees in Computer Science and Psychology and made the switch from the corporate world to veterinary medicine.
I love being able to help animals while also getting to know clients and helping improve life for both pets and their owners. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, our puggle, Chloe, and our cat, Albus.
My favorite things about FPH are the family atmosphere, our team, and all the fun pets I get to meet.

I joined Family Pet Hospital in June 2026. I was drawn to veterinary medicine because I wanted to support pets and their owners and make a difference for our clients. I love building relationships and getting to know everyone’s fur babies, and the furless ones too!
I’ve always been an animal person. I’ve had all sorts of animals throughout my life, and I can’t walk past one without saying hi. At home, I have a Blue Heeler, a Dalmatian mix, and a crazy orange cat.
Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and friends and going on adventures.
What I love most about FPH is that it really lives up to its name. From coworkers to clients, it feels like one big family.

I joined Family Pet Hospital in September 2026. I’ve worked with pets for years in dog daycare, pet sitting, and grooming. After taking a break from working with animals, I realized how much I missed it. I feel honored to now be part of the veterinary field.
I love meeting different pets and making a difference in their lives. At home, I have two dogs, Valor and Alice, and I love taking them on adventures in the Rockies and around Colorado. I also enjoy traveling around the country to visit national parks. When I’m home, I like playing cozy video games and cooking.
What I love about FPH is the care we put into making sure every pet and pet parent gets personal attention and care that fits their needs. I feel fortunate to be part of such a great team.
Walter, Chief Feline Officer
Walter came into Dr. Abernathy’s life in Lubbock, Texas when he was about 9 weeks old. She took one look at him and fell in love. He was “raised” by her black lab, Isaac, and her chocolate lab, Anna. While he interacted with the other cats in her home, he always felt he was closer to the canine species. After years of “ruling the roost,” he decided to bring his love of dogs and people to Family Pet Hospital. Now he is in charge of warming office chairs, greeting clients, helping dogs understand how cats are in charge, and being an Instagram star.
